April update

We praise the Lord for His blessings on the special Easter services here in Moncton, including good attendance and participation from two of our immigrant families. Our French ministry choral group presented a bilingual version of “His Robes for Mine” in the multi-church Good Friday service. 

We are encouraged by how God is growing our people, including M, who was recently chosen as a deacon for EBC to represent our French speakers, and D., who participated in a worship-leading seminar with me with the goal of helping to lead services sometime in the future. M’s wife has been a faithful part of Cherith’s ladies’ Bible studies (which meets tonight!) and is a real help to Cherith with preparing our weekly Sunday dinners. We also rejoice that J.F. has made real spiritual progress through one-on-one study with Cherith and is preparing for her baptism on June 7.

Please pray for God's intervention concerning Bill C-9 (currently going through Parliament) and its potential repercussions on gospel ministry in Canada, as well as the immense need for laborers to reach the French-speaking population across the Maritimes.

On a personal note, please pray for Josiah as he recovers from a serious flu, and that God will provide the rest of us with the measure of health He wants us to have. 

Caleb is also getting ready for his final exams and will be joining our ministry in Moncton for several days in May before continuing to special ministry opportunities in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, followed by a summer pastoral internship in Iowa, and a missions trip to Ukraine late summer. Pray for God guidance and provision for him.

March update

We are grateful for how the Lord continues to work in our French ministry.

• Praise the Lord for several new people who have begun attending our French services and Bible studies. Please pray for some of our folks who are dealing with immigration challenges and others who are currently seeking employment.

• Praise the Lord for P’s recent wedding in Niger and safety in his travels. Pray for the couple as they work through the immigration process to bring his wife to Canada.
• Please also pray for D, who has been back in the hospital for several weeks. Pray for effective treatment and improved health, and that the Lord would use my visits to encourage him.

• Pray for Cherith as she disciples JL and leads both the French ladies’ Bible study and an English career ladies’ study that meet every other week. The French ladies meet again tomorrow evening.
• Our French group has been preparing special music to sing in the English service this coming Sunday and again for the Good Friday service. The song is a bilingual version of “His Robes for Mine,” moving between French and English. Please pray that the Lord will help us do our best for His glory and for the edification of the church.

Recently we’ve also had opportunities to assist in some of the English ministries at Emmanuel Baptist Church, including helping edit a deacons’ ministry manual.  Cherith is also working hard to strengthen the special music ministry, getting more people involved and organizing and practicing with different groups.  

• This past week I also represented our North American BMM team working with Church Planting & Development at BMM’s General Council meeting. Please pray for the missionaries on our team serving across the U.S. and Canada. Many labor in difficult places, often alone, far from family and with few opportunities for rest.

• We would also appreciate prayer for our son Caleb, who is traveling on a spring ministry tour with the Ambassador Baptist College Ensemble during his spring break. Please pray as well for God’s direction and provision as he prepares for several ministry opportunities this summer in Israel, Canada, Iowa, and Ukraine.

• 
  Finally, pray that God will raise up more laborers to reach French speakers with the Gospel here in New Brunswick. The need is great, and we would greatly welcome additional workers in this ministry.  Please continue to pray that the Lord will guide, strengthen, and use us for His glory.

Prayer and Praise Update February 2026

Thank you so much for praying for our travels in January as we took Caleb back to Ambassador Baptist College and attended our niece Ellie’s wedding. The Lord graciously protected us over many long miles (!) and provided excellent weather and dry roads. It was a real joy to spend time with dear friends and family in Pennsylvania, as well as in North and South Carolina. However, with an ice storm looming, our visit was cut short and we made an early return to Moncton to stay ahead of the weather.

While at the college, Josiah was able to attend classes with Caleb for a day, giving us all a glimpse into his daily life there, which was a special encouragement. Caleb also participated in four special music ministries during the opening revival services, which we were able to attend in person. We were reminded once again of God’s perfect timing and provision—just a year ago, this trip would not have been possible, as we were still waiting for our Canadian PR (residency) cards at that time.

We’re thankful that the Lord blessed the French ministry during our absence and for good attendance. This past Sunday, I had the privilege of baptizing E., whom Cherith has been discipling since she began attending in November. We praise the Lord for her testimony, as well as for others who were baptized from the English-speaking church. There were also many visitors, including E.’s sister O. Cherith restarted her French ladies’ Bible study Tuesday evening, with several new ladies in attendance. Please pray with us for continued spiritual growth among the believers, for deeper commitment to the Lord, and for greater faithfulness in attendance for several.

Since our return, our brother D., who has been struggling physically, has experienced a further decline in his health and was readmitted to the hospital Tuesday. While it grieves us to see him continue to suffer, we are thankful that he is in a place where he can receive proper care and be kept safe. We would appreciate your prayers for him and for wisdom for those overseeing his care.

In January, the Lord opened the door for us to begin a new ministry by welcoming an EBBI student into our home. Caleb’s friend N. from Nova Scotia moved to Moncton to attend classes at EBBI for at least this semester. Our son Josiah is also joining him for one of the classes, which he is taking for dual credit. Please pray that the Lord would use this time together for mutual encouragement and spiritual growth in each of our lives.

Please also continue to pray for Caleb as he encourages other students toward missions through the Missions Prayer Band, and as he seeks the Lord’s provision for several upcoming summer ministries: a trip to NYC and Israel with Shalom Ministries, a 10-day missions trip to the Canadian Maritimes, a pastoral internship in Iowa, and camp ministry in Ukraine. We will include his post about these opportunities below. 

Finally, we would appreciate your prayers for God’s wisdom and strength for us as we seek to balance our responsibilities and faithfully serve in teaching, preaching, discipleship, outreach, and music ministries.

January 17, 2026

Dear friends,

God has opened several doors for missions this summer and I want to try as many of them as the Lord provides for. 

From May 11–June 10, I will be serving with Shalom Ministries through the Branches of Blessing program, beginning with a week of Jewish awareness and evangelism training in NYC, followed by three weeks of ministry, evangelism, and touring in Israel.

From June 11–22, I hope to lead some of my peer college students (however many want to) on a missions trip to the Maritime provinces of Canada, focusing on music ministry and possibly running a VBS and/or special meetings. My vision is to personally guide students through the full missions-trip process and see that actually going is totally doable!

I plan to spend the remainder of the summer interning at a church in Clio, Iowa. 

Finally, I hope to return to work at a camp in Ukraine for a couple weeks in August as I did last year where I would be directly involved in sharing the gospel with kids from Eastern Ukraine.

As far as I know… that’s all I have planned but the Lord may lead to me being able to do more or less! 

Please continue to pray for me to stay faithful to following His Word and trusting Him through the hard times and through the happy times. Please also pray that the Lord would provide for the costs of stuff (the trips and my school bill) as He has so faithfully done without fail. I look forward to seeing what He will do!

January update

Thank you for your faithful prayers for us and for the ministry the Lord has entrusted to us among French Canadians and immigrants in Moncton, New Brunswick. We are deeply grateful for God’s constant care and faithfulness, and for the privilege He gives us to partner with Him in His work.

We are writing from Lattimore, North Carolina, where Caleb is beginning his spring semester at Ambassador Baptist College, with Josiah attending several classes alongside him today. We are thankful for the opportunity to attend today’s Opening Revival services, both morning and evening. Caleb is also participating in the services through special music, both vocally and on the trumpet.

We would appreciate your prayers for these matters:

Praise God for encouraging Christmas services with good attendance. Pray that visitors would return, that the lost would come to salvation, and that believers would grow through discipleship.

Praise God for Caleb’s time at home and for his involvement in both the French and English ministries through music, teaching, and preaching. Praise the Lord for the team from Ambassador Baptist College who were with us over the holidays and for their ministry among us. 

Pray for Caleb as he begins the spring semester at Ambassador, and for our travels (January 13-26) to North Carolina to bring him back to school and to attend a family wedding.

Praise the Lord for His work through the French ministry in Moncton, NB, including several new visitors, especially from Haiti. Pray for the French ministry during our absence, and for God’s wisdom and provision as the couple who had been assisting us is stepping away. Praise God for E’s discipleship Bible studies with Cherith and for her desire to follow Christ through baptism on February 1.

Pray for God’s protection from Satan’s attacks, and for His strength and sustaining grace.

November update

Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and encouragement. We have much to thank the Lord for, and several specific requests we’d appreciate your continued prayers for.

Praise for

• Successful surgery for Cherith’s Dad, Hubert Broeckert: We are so thankful for the Lord’s help as he underwent triple bypass surgery last Monday. The procedure went well, and he was able to return home on Saturday, where he continues to recover. After months of searching for the cause of his illness, we’re grateful that the blockages were discovered through a heart catheterization the week before—and that they could be corrected surgically.
• God’s blessing in our French and English ministries:
  Over the past several weeks, some of the visitors have begun attending faithfully, and we are encouraged to see how God is working in lives and opening hearts to His truth.
• 
  Faithful ministry partnerships: We’re deeply grateful for the churches and individuals that have stood with our family in ministry, some for many decades. We look forward to visiting two of our partnering churches who began partnering with the Teachout family when my dad (Don) first went to the mission field as a single missionary nearly 65 years ago! We thank God for such enduring faithfulness and provision.
• Medical help Cherith is getting for foot pain: We’re thankful that she’s able to receive therapy and care for this need.

Pray for

• A full recovery from surgery for Cherith’s Dad:
  Pray for healing and renewed strength so that he can continue to serve the Lord. 
• Cherith’s recovery: Pray that the issues will be helped and fully resolved through therapy.
• 
  D’s health: D is one of our faithful senior members and a key partner in the French ministry. His burden for reaching other Acadians has been a great encouragement to us. He has been very ill and is currently undergoing treatments in the hospital. Pray for physical healing, comfort, and peace—and for our church family as they show love and care for him.
• 
  Upcoming travel:
  Lord willing, we leave this Friday for upstate New York—an 11-hour journey each way—where we have meetings over the next two Sundays. Pray for us as we fellowship and report in these last two partnering churches that we were unable to visit this past summer. Pray for safety on the road, refreshing fellowship, and meaningful visits with these long-time ministry partners.
• A time of rest and renewal: Pray that during the week between meetings, we will be refreshed and renewed (spiritually, physically and emotionally).
  
• The Moncton Christmas Parade evangelistic outreach (November 22): Pray for God’s blessing on this wonderful opportunity, for hearts to be open to the gospel, and for others here in the church to join in both preparation and outreach. This is more complicated as our trip will take us away all of next week.
  

Thank you for your prayers and partnership in the gospel. Your faithfulness is a vital part of what God is doing here, and we thank the Lord for you!

October update

Thank you for your prayers for us and for God to work through us here in Moncton, NB.  We praise the Lord for His answers to prayer this past month. We are thankful for a number of new visitors (all immigrants) to our Sunday services, and for those who have returned multiple times. We rejoice in S’s baptism this past Sunday and her desire to continue studying the Bible with Cherith.  We are also grateful for the three individuals from the French ministry (including S) and the eight from the English ministry who were welcomed as new members last Sunday. It is a joy as well to see M’s spiritual growth and his eagerness to serve more actively, especially in helping to lead worship services. I met with him last Saturday for a workshop on planning and leading worship services.

We are happy to have C from Cameroon with us for going on a year now.  He has been among the most faithful in attendance, actively participating in Bible studies, and was one of four to be in the new membership class last month. Please pray for him to recognize his need to follow the Lord in baptism by immersion. Pray also for greater faithfulness in attendance, that ongoing spiritual growth, and wisdom in our discipleship and equipping ministries. We seek God’s direction and open doors to reach the French Acadian community effectively. Finally, please remember several of our members who are dealing with serious health challenges, that they would find grace and strength in the Lord.

Praise for

• the visitors who have joined us nearly every week since we've been back in Moncton.
• The four individuals that took the new membership class, for one who was baptized October 5, and for 3 that joined the church.
• S’s desire to continue one on one Bible studies with Cherith, for the women attending Cherith’s French Bible study, and for the three ladies in Cherith’s English Career ladies Bible Study.

Pray for

• visitors to keep returning and growing in their knowledge of Christ. 
• increased faithfulness and the spiritual growth of those in our French ministry.
• Several of our members (D, D, and S) facing severe physical struggles.
• God to help us to serve Him faithfully and that we would find our strength and sufficiency in Him.
• Our children to follow the Lord and to desire His glory: Adrianna and Brandon in CA, Caleb in his sophomore year at Ambassador Baptist College, and Josiah homeschooling with us in 11th grade.

September 2025 Update

We are so grateful for your prayers for our family and ministry. God's protection and blessings were evident during our three-month mini-furlough. Though at times emotionally draining, we had wonderful opportunities to connect with ministry partners, friends, and family, and we enjoyed sharing about the work in New Brunswick many times. God kept us safe and fairly healthy as we traveled over 12,800 miles. We also had productive conferences with our BMM family and North America team. 

We arrived home in Moncton physically exhausted yet having received needed emotional and spiritual refreshment. We praise the Lord for bringing in some of the needed monthly support and continue to trust Him for the remaining need. Pray too that God will sustain us.

We praise the Lord for taking care of our still fragile French ministry while we were away and for the faithfulness of those who served in our absence. Since returning to Moncton, we've been encouraged by new visitors almost every week. Please pray for these new attendees, that they will continue to attend and grow in their knowledge of Christ. We also ask you to pray for some of our people who have struggled and drifted this summer, that we might be able to effectively point them back to Christ for guidance. 

We appreciate your prayer for the spiritual growth and faithfulness of everyone in our ministry, and for God to guide us as we lead this vital ministry. We are busy with discipleship and Bible studies: pray for my ministry of the Word and in music, and as I prepare four individuals for church membership, including a woman. Cherith is discipling who is scheduled to be baptized on October 5. Pray for Cherith as she leads French Bible studies for the ladies, as she disciples a new believer one-on-one, and as she leads an English Bible study for three career women. Pray too for Josiah’s role in our ministry alongside his 11th grade homeschooling studies.

Thank you for praying for our son Caleb's ministry this past summer. God protected and blessed him with wonderful opportunities. He traveled to churches and camps in many states with a music and missions team from Ambassador Baptist College and then joined us in Ankeny, IA were he ministered to missionary children at our BMM North America team conference. We are also grateful for God’s provision and blessing for his two-week missions trip to Ukraine. Caleb was responsible for creating daily recap videos, and he also had several occasions to share devotionals and special music. The camp hosted 300 children from Eastern Ukraine, and we praise God that 70 to 80 of them made professions of faith in Christ.

Thank you for your prayers for us. We are so thankful for the privilege of serving the Lord and pray that God will help each of us to live every day with eternity in view.
