Please pray for our English club outreach this evening. We have the club again tonight, the second Friday in a row since the kids will then be on the two-week Spring break from school. Pray that the young people will be calm and attentive, especially during the Bible story (Jesus' parable on the unforgiving servant). There were some issues last week and I was reminded of the spiritual battle that is waging for the souls of these kids. PRAYER IS VITAL!
Tomorrow a number of us from our church will be going downtown to the city market for evangelism. Pray for God's protection for each one on the team and for blessing in the contact with people. Pray for God to move in hearts.
On Monday, our teammates and ourselves will be travelling to Larrode, France where we will be meeting with the rest of our BMM France team for our annual conference and planning meetings. Please pray for safety for each one travelling, including our speaker Steve Gault who will be coming from the USA with his wife Beth. Pray for refreshment for each one, both spiritually and physically. Pray for the children and for those that will be ministering to them.
Thank you so much for being a part of this ministry.

Praise and Prayer March 30, 2016
Many thanks to all who are praying for our
family and for our ministry here in Saint Medard. We have seen some challenges during these past few weeks but
God is faithful and continues to multiply His blessings and grace.
Earlier this month our Bible Institute
(Algrange) sent the student body to Bordeaux for a week of practical
involvement in the four Bordeaux area churches. Three students were with us on Sunday, and were involved in
Sunday school, Bible study and preaching.
The students were involved in many projects in the four churches during
the week, including helping to distribute church flyers here in Saint
Medard. What an encouraging boost
this was to our small team that goes out regularly on the mailbox campaign.
Also that week, I made a trip across France to
Saint Albain for a two-day leaders’ conference for foreign missions working in
France. Sharpening vision and
ministries was one of the main goals.
Perhaps the most interesting session was a whirlwind tour of the
influence of the true Gospel in France over the past nearly 2000 years.
My (Jonathan’s) cousin Michael and his wife
Sarah paid us a visit over one weekend, making this the very first time to welcome
another Teachout into our home here.
We enjoyed the fellowship and showing them some of beautiful Bordeaux,
and Michael shared his testimony on Sunday morning. Michael also gave us some helpful technical support, his
specialty!
We also had the blessing
of a visit from a dear friend from Pennsylvania here in Bordeaux on
business. What a treat that was.
Last Sunday, our church held a special Easter
breakfast with our people. Then
for the service, the Lord sent us a first-time visitor. That afternoon we enjoyed fellowship
with a number of our folks along with the family of Pastor Christian Corenthin,
from the church downtown Bordeaux.
Praise
for:
- a number of good contacts the Lord has given
us and to others in our church.
- the Bible school students’ time in Bordeaux
and for their help and involvement in the four churches.
- the encouraging visit from Jonathan’s cousin
Michael and his wife, and our friend from PA.
- the good attendance continuing for the English
outreach.
- the completion of the Christianity Explored
manuals, for one man who is going through the study with our teammate and for
another that has indicated some interest.
- God to open a door for our church to be able
to move to another location with more space.
- God to continue to give good contacts and to
cause His Word to penetrate the hearts of those who are hearing it. We have our English club outreach the next two Fridays.
- our BMM team as we meet for our annual French field
conference April 11 to 14. Pray
for refreshment through the fellowship and ministry of the Word, and that the
children will be blessed by the program this year.
- Jonathan, who is being treated for scoliosis
since it was discovered in February.

Please keep praying!
Thank you for praying for our
friends in their time of grief, and for our involvement in the memorial
services yesterday. It was such an encouragement to hear from several
who were praying.
We attended two services yesterday for our friend,
each time waiting to be called up to share and sing. However, to
our disappointment, the call never came. At the end of the day, before we
left the home where our friend (T's widow) received a packed houseful of
guests, I gave my notes to her and told her that they were the notes for what I
had planned to share. She gratefully accepted them to read later and apologized
for the lapse in communication, that the director hadn't been informed. I
suggested we sing the song we'd prepared at another time for her.
So, while we were disappointed that we didn't have the
opportunities we'd planned for throughout a draining day, we were encouraged to
have been able to be present to share the day with our friends, including
numerous opportunities to connect with other parents and even to talk about our
faith. It has been an encouragement to know that God is in control and that it
is for His work and Kingdom that we are here. So how He chooses to use us is
His business. May He keep us faithful and ready! We appreciate your continued
prayers for us in the days to come.

God's help needed
On Wednesday Cherith made banana bread and took some over to the family of our friend Tony who died last Sunday. She had a good contact with his wife who asked if we would take part in the funeral ceremonies on Monday. She is asking me to share a few words and that we sing a song. We would very much appreciate your prayers that God would guide in our preparation, and that He would use our words and the song to comfort the grieving hearts of family and friends, but also point people to the Author of life who offers life to all who believe.

Strength to face the trials
Day by day and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best –
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
The beloved hymn brings comfort and strength in
bleak times. On Saturday a card
came in the mail from the daughter of one of our former neighbors in Reims that
we have corresponded with since our move to Bordeaux. She had received the letter and Scripture calendar that we
had sent to her Mom, but regretted to inform us that our friend had passed
away. Sunday a text message
brought word that our friend with cancer that we have been witnessing to and praying
for over the past year had just died. Two precious souls in eternity. Where are they now?
Did they put their trust in Christ for salvation before they took their
last breath? Did we take every
opportunity God would give us to share with them the Gospel of hope that is in
Christ? Surely we could have done
more. God knows where these souls
are and we must trust Him and find our strength and comfort in Him. May God help us seize every opportunity
to share His love and His light while we have breath, and while others can
still respond.
Praise
for:
- the opportunities that we have had to share
the Gospel with Tony and with our friend from Reims.
- the great attendance at the English outreach
last week, including five unsaved kids.
Praise that the kids have listened well to the Bible stories the past
two times.
- God’s encouragement in times of trials, and
for sending a first-time visitor to our church on Sunday when attendance was
down.
Pray
for:
- God’s grace and comfort in sorrow, and for
guidance in sharing Christ’s love with hurting hearts. Pray that God will open hearts to Him.
- the final preparations to come together for
the Christianity Explored course, including finishing editing the student
handbooks in French (Jonathan) and recording the French audio for several
sessions (one of the men in our church).
- our church as we meet with the members this Saturday for a planning meeting. Pray for God’s guidance as we look to the future and that there would be unity.
- our church as we meet with the members this Saturday for a planning meeting. Pray for God’s guidance as we look to the future and that there would be unity.
- Pray for God’s solution and timing for our
very real building problem. We
have little room for guests if God were to send them to us!

Praise and Prayer December 31, 2015
Our hearts are filled with awe and delight as we
contemplate once again the priceless Gift of a Savior for mankind. Sharing homemade Christmas treats and
Scripture calendars with neighbors, teachers and other friends that we have
been reaching out to has again been an opportunity to share the news of the
greatest Gift with others.
God has
given us some special opportunities this year, including being able to share
with a few new contacts that we have made this year. We have been encouraged by the friendly response we have
had. One couple, who had come to
the Christmas cantata, indicated that they had enjoyed it very much and invited
us to for coffee after the holidays.
We received word yesterday that Cherith’s
Grandma Hovingh entered her heavenly Home. Knowing Grandma is with the Lord is a comfort, but not being
near the family at this time is hard, especially for Cherith. We are so thankful for the
opportunities that we had to visit with Grandma this last summer while we were
home.
This last week a new challenge surfaced at our church,
which will necessitate another move as soon as the Lord makes it possible. Without notification, we found our
meeting room cut smaller, with a new wall running across the room. The 538 sq. feet we had has been
reduced to around 350 sq. feet.

Praise
the Lord that this did not come before the Cantata when we had 101 people into
our meeting room. Now we can
barely fit 30 (we are averaging about 20), which leaves us very little room to
grow. This came as a surprise to
everyone after moving to this location just in August. Finding meeting places in Saint Medard
(or France in general) has proven to be quite a challenge in the past. But we are confident that this is God’s
work and it is His church. He is
able to open the right door for His work to continue in this town that is
finally seeing glimmers of His light after hundreds of years of darkness.

Praise
for:
- the Good News of a Savior that we can share at
Christmas and throughout the year.
- the great attendance at the Cantata
presentations and for God’s hand upon all involved as His Good News was shared
with many unsaved.
- the building that we have to meet in at
present, and that the new wall did not go up until after the Cantata. Praise for the knowledge God is in
control and can provide for our building needs
- the life of Cherith’s Grandma whose love for
the Lord and for others was evident to all. We are personally thankful for a Grandma who was supportive
to our ministry from the very beginning (our marriage).
Pray
for:
- God’s working in the hearts of those who have
heard the Gospel, and that He would use the Scripture calendars that have and
are being shared. Pray for many opportunities to witness.
- comfort and healing for all of Grandma
Hovingh’s family, and for those of us who are unable to be with the family at
this time..
- our church building needs. Pray that God will lead us and open
doors for us to have a permanent place to meet that will be adequate for our
needs and give space to grow.
- the God’s guidance and blessing of His church
in Saint Medard in the New Year, and that His light would continue to shine
brighter and brighter through His people.

Praise the Lord for answered prayer!
Thanks for praying for us this past weekend. God answered prayer for the three presentations of the Christmas Cantata/Concert Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Although there were some empty seats on Friday and Saturday, we were in awe as God filled up the tiny little auditorium of our new church plant here in Saint Medard yesterday afternoon. More than 100 people including the choir filled the 538 sq. feet. While some of those in attendance were from the other three churches accompanying unsaved guests of theirs, there were many from our town and the neighboring suburbs. Many of those who had assured us they would be coming did not show up, but among those who attended were two of our neighbors: a couple that we have had some good contact with and the retired school teacher that has been helping Adrianna with French on Fridays. We look forward to having more opportunities to witness to these people and pray that God will convict them of their need for His salvation.
And though we were disappointed that others did not respond, there truly would not have been room for anyone else. We asked the Lord to fill the seats, and He did. Several people took Bibles, Scripture calendars and flyers telling of the evangelistic Bible study we will be starting in January. The choir and the actors did a great job, despite fatigue. Thank you so much for praying -- please praise the Lord with us and continue to pray for fruit!
